I will say what words resonate with me with family and love. Because I grew up with listening to the Dharma and Buddhist teachings, I said to my parents: “I love you guys and care about you both. Remember when I was 4-6 years old, I told you that I love Mẹ và Ba equally no more and no less.” People may say this is crazy talk for a young Vietnamese American girl. But I questioned them, “What if we all three met each other again in this lifetime because we all share a similar past life connection? What if we reincarnated into this life to be a family together again?” Because we all found ourselves connected in a lot of similarities like love, standing your ground and face your fears head on, compassion, togetherness, and etc. I always tell Mẹ and Ba that I will fight for you both, I will love you both, I will forgive you both, and I will protect you both with my life. The love and care from my parents is eternal. If parents are meant to protect and wish well for their children; then I believe that their children should do the same for their parents.

Oh, Dennis. My heart breaks for you and your family. I love the beautiful take you have on your unfortunate situation. The ability to see that experiencing life in its wholeness is a gift and not a curse is a really great thing to be aware of. I'm not going to tell you that I'm sending love or that I feel your pain, because that's really not going to do anything. Just know that there are so so many people who've been exactly where you are and have grown through it 💓 Stay close to people who will be there for you. Much love.
